Plenty of Fish

Had our annual fish survey carried out on our small river, carried out by Natural Resources Wales, used to be the Environment Agency. They check the stretch of river from our ford and about 20 yards downstream to a bend by the old leet. By putting electrodes into the river they stun all the fish and capture them. Last year the number was very down with only 20 fish caught.
This time it was much better with around 40 caught over a couple of hours, they were salmon, trout and bullheads of all ages, the trout included some quite big ones thought to be up to 4 years old.
I see the heron regularly, have seen kingfishers and once an otter so there are obviously fish there, but the number and size caught always surprises but  de.lights us

It is extremely helpful for me. Thank you for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information?
