Been a good year for the blue tits, all the chicks have fledged. Eight nests with 53 chicks surviving so far. One nest was abandoned about 4 eggs laid. Pied Flycatchers are also on the move with many now gone from the nests.
Still have two nests with eggs in, the Pied Flycatcher who tried so hard to find a mate has 5 eggs as pictured which should hatch very soon, and we have found a Pied Wagtails nest in our woodland walk in the cup of some elder tree branches, also 5 eggs. Close to were the Pied Wagtails nest was attacked at the end of May. Worryingly this nest is only about 3 foot off the ground and seems very vulnerable.
