Hi and welcome to our first attempt at a blog. A bit of background info first, we moved into Tyn y Cwm in June 2002, having fallen in love with it on our first visit on a very wet day in January, the setting just blew us away. The garden didn't really exist then, although we saw redkite and blackcap on that first visit. One of the real joys of our bit of heaven is the birds we get. The spring migrants have returned, I've seen or heard pied flycatchers, redstarts, swallows, house martins, willow warbler, wood warbler and cuckoo. I've put up 23 nestboxes in the wood above the house and around the garden, so far this year 18 have had nests started, 4 have eggs in. Mainly using my boxes are blue tits and pied flycatchers with a couple of great tits. Only the tits have started laying. Mainly a drizzly day today but a cuckoo was calling close by for a long time. |
