Cuckoo calling but eggs late

Plenty of birds on the feeders at the moment, Siskins and Goldfinches galore on the sunflower hearts. The migrants are returning Willow Warblers on the top in some scrubland, Pied Flycatchers in the oak wood. The Cuckoo is calling, daily now, and some nests have started to be made in the boxes, but nowhere near where we were last year this time when there were many eggs already laid, 10 in one nest. Not an egg yet, probably due to the very cold recent weather with many frosts. Hopefully now as the weather warms the nest building will really get going.
Seen a badger and hedgehog on the road nearby when going to work for night shifts and with the Tawny Owls calling, lots going on in the evenings and nights.
